Mince hearts - An Alternative to Traditional Mince pies.

Seasons Greetings,
I don't really like Christmas. In fact I cannot wait for January 1st because it means the season is over for another year. My reasons for thus strong feelings vary from the crowds of people, the weight in carrying presents around. Money, Money, Money... that and the emotional drainage of spending way too much time with my parents.
However, as well as the possibility of snow there are other sights that bring me pure joy this time of year one of which is roasted chestnuts and the other mince pies... We shall focus on the later.
I try every brand I can lay my hands on to figure which one is best as I believe it is my duty, the crisp pastry and magically juicy fruit filling makes me swoon everytime.
The video below shows me making a small variation on tradition by shaping them in hearts but please feel free to use which ever shapes you like. the recipe I used is from Nigella Lawson 'Feast' but it can be found on her website. I deviated a little by adding the zest of the clementine as well as the juice in the pastry and making the dough then refrigerating for an hour or overnight.
In conclusion, may I just say the finish product is delicious even if I do say so myself.
xxo
