Pandoro Pain Perdu

Sunday mornings were made for this. Trust me.

Ingredients:
Pandoro thickly sliced (any type of sweet bread will do)
1 egg
100 ml full fat milk
1 tbsp unsalted butter
veg oil

Instructions:
  1. Break the egg into a wide-ish shallow bowl, add the milk and using a fork whisk until frothy. This will happen quicker if the egg is at room temperature to begin with; otherwise should take about 2 minutes.
  2. Soak the bread in the milk mixture turning it just once. The rate of absorption depends on how dry/fresh the bread is.
  3. Put the oil and butter in a frying pan over medium heat once the butter is melted and frothy add the soaked bread and turn the heat down a little.
  4. Leave it without touching or prodding or lifting for 4 minutes and using a fish slice turn it around.
  5. Repeat with other slices.
  6. Put out on a plate ready to eat. I added sieved icing sugar to mine but that's not compulsory. I do however strongly suggest coffee.
Enjoy,
XXO
